The Elemental I Ching
Exploring the Elemental Essence of the Gene Keys
This year I am going to contemplate the progression of the Ba Gua, the original eight elements, in relation to the Gene Keys activated in these weekly cycles. It is a form of my own contemplation practice, to drink in the elemental essence of each Key, and dance with the tao.
“Back strong like a mountain, the monk attains stillness. From stillness comes bliss, right action. The heart of the earth rests in the stability of meditation, rejuvenation, and cultivation. To care deeply for the temple, our body, our surroundings, our planet. This love requires patience and restraint, like gravity holding back the forces of entropy. Trust in the natural timing, listen to the stillness within. Act when it is time to act.”
-Elijah Parker “The Synthesis Deck”
Gene Key 15 – Mountain hidden beneath the Earth
The Mystical in the Mundane – Receiving spirit through appreciating every day. This key is about embracing emptiness – the mountain of the great power is discovered in the empty stillness. Is your heart buried in the mundane, the repitition, the dullness? Or are you connected to the unified patterns of life vibrating us from the core, revealing the magic in the mundane.
“To the mind that is still, the entire universe surrenders.”” -Lao Tzu
Gene Key 52 – The Keeping Still Mountain
Before starting any action, project, relationship take a moment to breath deep into your belly. Hold your intention like a great seed, plant it with absolute presence, and maintain a strong yet relaxed awareness as this dream grows into its full majesty. Decisions made from fear carry that vibration to the bitter end. Take care not to rush forward without trust – trust in the flow of life. The gift of restraint is “to allow your life to unfold without urgent demand”. This profound trust allows the seed to sprout uninterrupted. Ironically, the moment when all energy appears to have halted, the greatest growth is possible. A good gardner does not disturb the soil where roots are growing. Every moment is an opportunity to act (or not act) mindfully, to allow the universe to blossom in ways we could never create alone.
